Sciatic pain is a term used for people who experience radiating pain or (shooting pain) down one or both of their legs. “Sciatica” is actually the largest nerve in your body and it is composed of two nerves which are the Tibal N and common peroneal N. both of these nerves turn can produce pain down your leg. For people who experience true sciatic nerve pain, they will understand the frustration associated with this condition, and not being able to do the things they love or would normally do.

Sciatic pain can be also missed diagnosed as what we call Piriformis syndrome. Piriformis syndrome is basically a muscle that connects from your hip to your pelvis. The sciatic nerve can either travel through the muscle or around it. If you have pelvic dysfunction or postural imbalance this can alter the muscle position which then can press on the sciatic nerve which can give you symptoms of having a sciatic condition.
Causes:
  • Spinal Arthritis
  • Spondlolthesis
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Lumbar Disc Herniation
Symptoms:
  • Burning or numbness sensation at the lower back/gluteal region
  • Lower back pain
  • Hip Pain
  • Difficulty walking
Treatment:
Back pain is one of the most common reasons why patients utilise chiropractic care. Our Chiropractors will examine the lower back pain with a detailed history, followed up by a postural, neurological and orthopaedic testing to eliminate any neurological changes.
Our chiropractors will then discuss the reasoning behind the lower back pain, and once determined safe, our chiropractor will use a series of treatments which includes but is not limited to gentle spinal manipulations, soft tissues treatment, muscle rehab and corrective exercises.
