Scoliosis Is a common condition that chiropractors see In their practice. Scoliosis occurs when the spine deviates to side to side instead of being straight. The spine normally has 3 curves that look like a C shape or a reverse C Shape. At your neck and lower back we have a lordoric (reverse curve) and at the mid back you have a kyphotic (c shape curve).
As Chiropractors, we conduct a series of orthro test to determine whether there is scoliosis or not. First test is an Adam test to see whether there is a greater “hump” on one side than the other. From the result of that we would determine if its necessary to get x rays so we can use a measuring method called Cobbs’ methods to determine the degree of spinal change.
Depending on other factors, age gender and lifestyle, the chiropractor may believe its best to refer to the local orthopaedic specialist.
Chiropractic treatment such as gentle spinal manipulation corrective exercises and soft tissue treatments has been shown to be beneficial with patients with Scoliosis.
