Are you one of the 3.7 million Australians that suffer from back pain right now, it is estimated from the Australian institute of health and welfare that 70-90% of Australians will suffer from back one at some point in their life.
It is important to understand that it is not normal to experience any sort of back pain, and can arises not only from a specific incident but can be a gradual onset of pain with no specific onset.

Symptoms:

  • Dull ache (bandaid like) across the lower back
  • Sharp (catching) pain when bending or completing movements.
  • Limited or restrictive movement
  • Referred pain either to the gluteal region or towards your mid back.
  • Sensory changes – pins and needles at the upper leg region
  • Back joint dysfunction and/or muscle spasms
Causes:

  • Vertebral joint dysfunction (Facet joint)
  • Muscular tightness
  • Different types of arthritis (most common – Osteoarthritis)
  • Disc injuries – Disc herniation
  • Postural imbalances
  • Trauma

Treatment

Back pain is one of the most common reasons why patients utilise chiropractic care.

Our Chiropractors will assess the lower back pain with a detailed history, followed up by a postural, neurological and orthopaedic testing to eliminate any neurological changes.

Our chiropractors will then discuss the reasoning behind the lower back pain, and once determined safe, our chiropractor will use a series of treatments, which includes but is not limited to gentle spinal manipulations, soft tissues treatment, muscle rehab and corrective exercises.
